A former artillery officer in the Canadian Armed Forces, Sara has a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from The Royal Military College of Canada, and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from The University of British Columbia. She is an alumna of the Disquiet Literary Program in Lisbon, the Banff Centre Writing Studio Program, the Middlebury Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference, and the International Literary Seminars in Kenya.

Sara writes about mothers, daughters, sisters, sons, girls, architects, dads, depressives, gymnasts, boys, stalkers, veterans and military spouses, exploring the unknowable nature and contemporary imagination of each. She gratefully acknowledges the Canada Council for the Arts, the Ontario Arts Council, and Veterans Affairs Canada for their financial support.
